Content Strategy
From brainstorming and collaborating with team members to playing traffic cop and final gatekeeper, I have experience managing each step in a project’s process. I have developed and curated content in the topic areas of health, homes, food, consumer interest, family, entertainment, fashion, travel, real estate and transportation. I also have managed business, national and international news coverage plans. Outside of journalism, I’ve helped several nonprofit organizations and businesses craft brand-forward messaging and visuals for their portfolios, reports, promotions and publications.
Editing
Everyone needs an editor, and the best editors appreciate the writer’s work while also being an advocate for the reader and ultimate message. I pride myself on being quick and accurate when time is tight, but with the ability to dive deeper and more thoroughly for most projects. I’m an expert in grammar, AP style and fact checking, and I hold high ethical and accuracy standards. Because content credibility can be won or lost in the hands of an editor, I take on the role with a great sense of responsibility and transparency.
Design
As a designer for more than 20 years, I’ve been fortunate to work on a wide variety of projects across multiple platforms with diverse subject matters. My design process starts by honoring the purpose and audience. From there, I create presentations that touch on the right tone, messaging and style for the client. My philosophy is grounded in clean, sharp designs that build on a clear hierarchy and showcase poignant visuals and typography.
Consulting
Effective consulting starts with listening. I approach a new project by first listening, questioning and building understanding. Then it’s time to plan, innovate and execute. I seek and value the input and contributions each team member brings — those collaborations yield the best results.
